The Lot Valley is such a picturesque location, with rolling hills, charming villages and intense variations of rich, lush greens. I painted a plein air study of an adjacent scene early one morning during my stay at a beautiful old converted convent in the village of Frayssinet. I then brought the studies back home to further develop my concepts, using the plein air pieces for color notes and to jog my memories of this magical place. This painting was completed in my studio from studies and photos made on site.
