About the painting:
The Outer Banks of North Carolina has long been a beloved summer vacation spot for me and my family. Aside from painting there en plein air, one of my favorite activities is my morning and evening strolls along the beach. When we stay in Kill Devil Hills, I will walk down towards the Avalon Pier. It's a great place to people watch during the day, but my favorite time is either very early or very late in the day, when the quality of light and the less densely populated beaches provide peace and a little bit of mystery to the place.
