About the painting:
This painting started as a preliminary study for a much larger commissioned landscape. The client wanted a different direction as to the color palette and time of day, but I still liked this sunny version with the deep blue sky enough that I decided to finish it on my own. Maymont is a popular scenic Richmond venue both for weddings and quiet family strolls. Children especially love hopping across the stepping stones and peering at the large coy beneath the water.
