The Still Life offers me the opportunity to paint from life in my studio, and I try to make a periodic practice of it, since painting from life outdoors isn’t always possible. Still life painting offers endless opportunities for exploration, and challenges the me to hone my skills in drawing, composition, values, and edges. I enjoyed these happy sunflowers and the variety of textures and surfaces provided in this composition.
