About the painting:
This piece shows a typical view of high summer season at the beach. I enjoyed the jumble of colorful canopies and umbrellas in the foreground, contrasted with the backdrop of natural colors in the sand, and blues and greens in the ocean and sky. I enjoy experimenting with different surfaces for my gouache paintings, like the toned tan mixed media paper made by Strathmore, which I used for this piece.
